Kling's Kwips - a sports anchor's bout with cynicism

jklingler@entercom.com

I don't know about you but I ...

think the Royals can hang in the division. If the pitching holds up, they can't help but hit eventually right?

would like to be more like Zach Greinke, less like Brian Bannister

want more ABs for Miguel Olivo and more 1b for Billy Butler

still want the powder blue pants

have no need to see the kiss cam or the dance off

can't wait until Chiefs training camp, so many story lines - not enough offensive lineman!

will give Brodie Croyle a chance

won't give one of the 32 fullbacks on the roster, nor any offensive tackle any chances

think Dwayne Bowe will be seeing too many double and triple teams

think KU is truly reloading under Bill Self, 7 recruits? If Chalmers comes back .. wow.

just don't have time for all of the NBA playoff games

want to see one Nascar race run in the opposite direction

would love to figure out how to work in a round of golf in my life

can't really watch horse racing anymore .. first Barbaro now Eight Belles

haven't even accidentally stumbled upon an NHL playoff game

Previous Kwip

I just finished watching the latest edition of Costas NOW on HBO dealing with sports and the media.   I'm not sure if it was 'too insider' or not, but I'd recommend that you catch the episode.   I have trouble sitting still for 1:30 on most days, but I was riveted by the show.

It dealt with sports talk radio, bloggers, TV, athletes and reporters and race.   Great panelists and interesting dialogue.    It could have gone on another few hours.  And this is a show that I can't say I've ever watched before.

I agree with some of the points raised and differ on others and it dealt with some of the issues I deal with everyday in covering sports.

As I mentioned I just spent an hour and a half watching this show.    Don't tell my wife, I'm supposed to be watching the twins!
